Dinosaur Tracks

DSCN4307

When you are in Moab next time stop by the Klondike bluffs trail. An easy hike for the kiddies, and a favorite ride for bikers.

DSCN4289

We discovered dinosaur tracks. The real thing. They are marked for your viewing. Left hand side about half way up the trail.

DSCN4308

Seriously made us want to be paleontologists.

DSCN4309

Just so we could sound cool when we said the word paleontologist.

I bet princess and I would make great paleontologists.

and visiting with those I love, but do not get to spend time with very often. (I handed the camera to hubby and these are the pictures – what do you do with pictures like this??)

Anyway-

I did not get to this today.

DSCN4063

So I am a turkey.

I am grateful for family members that have these beautiful occasions that pull us together once in awhile.

I felt the spirit of thanksgiving strongly yesterday as we joined together as a family for the sealing ceremony, and to pray for dad.

Congratulations TY and MAGGIE!

Thanks Mike and Tina helping us to fill our hearts with gratitude.

November 23rd

DSCN1010

Who was this Man of sorrows, acquainted with grief? Who is the King of glory, this Lord of hosts? He is our Master. He is our Savior. He is the Son of God. He is the Author of our Salvation. He beckons, “Follow me.” He instructs, “Go, and do thou likewise.” He pleads, “Keep my commandments.”

Let us follow Him. Let us emulate His example. Let us obey His word. By so doing, we give to Him the divine gift of gratitude.

Brothers and sisters, my sincere prayer is that we may adapt to the changes in our lives, that we may realize what is most important, that we may express our gratitude always and thus find joy in the journey. In the name of Jesus Christ, amen. –  Pres. Thomas Monson

    I love my sisters!

    DSCN4059

I love that my daughters get the chance to have sisters.

    DSCN1324

Sisters are a gift from heaven, they have often been my glue in life. They listen, and understand where I am coming from. I can complain, overreact and brag too much, and they love me anyway. I know they are honest with me when I need good advice. They laugh with me, at me, they think I am funny when no one else does.

I am so very thankful for my sisters.

I love my SISTERS! I miss them – they all live too many miles away.

    Hubby’s Birthday Shout Hooray!

    DSCN4056

My brothers and sisters, we are surrounded by those in need of our attention, our encouragement, our support, our comfort, our kindness—be they family members, friends, acquaintances, or strangers. We are the Lord’s hands here upon the earth, with the mandate to serve and to lift His children. He is dependent upon each of us.

-Pres. Thomas Monson (October 2009 general conference)

    006_6

Straight from my heart - This is a man who thinks of others before himself. This is a man who puts his family first. This is a man who takes his son to early morning (7am) jazz band. This is a man who makes his wife her green smoothie every morning. This is a man who shops for a cheap couch for his daughter that is getting married. This is a man who takes his daughters on senior trips doing something they would like to do.

Maybe you better not mention this last part. He'd be embarrassed.

We love you - Lots and lots!

    November 16th A little Hope

    DSCN4053

Sorry this is a little long but expresses my hope better then I ever will.

    To Hope: By John Keats

WHEN by my solitary hearth I sit,
When no fair dreams before my - mind’s eye - flit,
    And the bare heath of life presents no bloom;
Sweet Hope, ethereal balm upon me shed,
And wave thy silver pinions o’er my head.
Whene’er I wander, at the fall of night,
Where woven boughs shut out the moon’s bright ray,
Should sad Despondency my musings fright,
And frown, to drive fair Cheerfulness away,
Peep with the moon-beams through the leafy roof,
And keep that fiend Despondence far aloof.
    Should Disappointment, parent of Despair,
    Strive for her son to seize my careless heart;
When, like a cloud, he sits upon the air,
Preparing on his spell-bound prey to dart:
Chase him away, sweet Hope, with visage bright,
And fright him as the morning frightens night!
Whene’er the fate of those I hold most dear
Tells to my fearful breast a tale of sorrow,
    O bright-eyed Hope, my morbid fancy cheer;
Let me awhile thy sweetest comforts borrow:
Thy heaven-born radiance around me shed,
And wave thy silver pinions o’er my head!
Should e’er unhappy love my bosom pain,
    From cruel parents, or relentless fair;
O let me think it is not quite in vain
To sigh out sonnets to the midnight air!
Sweet Hope, ethereal balm upon me shed,
And wave thy silver pinions o’er my head!
In the long vista of the years to roll,
Let me not see our country’s honour fade:
O let me see our land retain her soul,
Her pride, her freedom; and not freedom’s shade.
From thy bright eyes unusual brightness shed -
Beneath thy pinions canopy my head!
Let me not see the patriot’s high bequest,
Great Liberty! how great in plain attire!
With the base purple of a court oppress’d,
Bowing her head, and ready to expire:
But let me see thee stoop from heaven on wings
That fill the skies with silver glitterings!
And as, in sparkling majesty, a star
    Gilds the bright summit of some gloomy cloud;
Brightening the half veil’d face of heaven afar:
So, when dark thoughts my boding spirit shroud,
Sweet Hope, celestial influence round me shed,
Waving thy silver pinions o’er my head.
    February, 1815.
    John Keats

Plus. I highly recommend you see this. (if you like poetry, and old English style movies) A beautiful film!

    November 14th – Happy Birthday

    DSCN4051

No I did not plan this, what a happy coincidence. Guess whose birthday it is.

                                            AARON!

    Aaron 006

I came across this old folder of pictures most of them I took with my first camera. Blurry or not they are all treasures.

My family is so happy I found them.

    Aaron 003

I am sure we all have copies of this beautiful photo – tucked in a deep dark closet. In fairness to my siblings I thought I would just get this one out there. Look at the little girl that is standing on the far right.

That’s me imitating Miss Beasley. Remember Miss Beasley.

Go ahead -laugh it up. A few things you should know about the old family photo when you are done laughing.

My oldest brother – the one kneeling- is getting ready to leave on his mission.

My youngest brother – the baby he is holding – That is Aaron. He is about nine months old. He is our Miracle.

Notice their are only nine of us. We need one more to finish with an even number.

My mom made all of our dresses, and some of the suit coats for the younger boys, after getting a missionary ready to go, having a emergency C-section, and pre-mature baby in the hospital for a month that year. I loved that dress.

    I am taller the Brian.

    Aaron grew up healthy.

     Aaron 011

My mom recovered too and had another sister for me to play house with, continued to sew. She made my wedding dress

    Aaron 007

Old snap shots of little brothers are the best.

    Aaron 018

These boys all grew up to be good men.

Happy Birthday Scary-Aary! LOVE YOU! MISS YOU!

P.S. I could use a new snap shot of you. Hope to see you soon.

    Kidnapped

As I walked out of work yesterday. This man literally kidnapped me. I had toilets to clean, laundry to fold, mouths to feed, blogs to update.

Sorry I ever called you a “goober”. What I meant to say was you have a great wit, and that is one of the things I love most about you. You make me laugh, smile, and enjoy life. Love you hubby!
