Best of Gifts

Christmas is about giving
- I know, I know
- but this little treasure
- Oh, this is the best of the best gifts.

Hubby's mom found a box of her Father's belongings
- inside was a book of poetry he had written in 1924
- she made us this book.
- I love it!

A Morning Prayer
By Clifford McDonald
(1904-1949)

Dear God, I hope this day may be
One that is filled with Light for me.
With work that I may gladly do
With little deeds of kindness too.

I pray that I may show the power
Of faith I have that every hour
My hands, my brain, my heart and soul
May reach toward some shinning goal.

Dear God I hope the day will be
A triumph and a victory.

But if I meet with sadness,
I pray for the courage not to cry.
I ask that with the setting sun
My every task may be well done.

Zona's Father died when she was 12 years old.
This is the Best Kind of Gift.
How do you say Thank You for something that is priceless.

Missing

I am home sick today
- yep, I called into work, and said I am sick
- which I really am
- nasty sore throat, not strep, thank goodness!
- I have been in my green silkies all day.
- instead of feeling rejuvenated, or refreshed
- I feel as if I am missing something.

I missed out on this.
- his fishing years, he used to fish, and fish, and fish.
- I can't believe I missed out on this -
- since I swear I've known him forever.

I missed out on this trip
- Princess #2 took with her HS class
- can you guess where by her pictures?
- I wonder if her classmates take pictures like this?
- I am betting they missed out on that fabulous sunset
- I am glad you didn't Belle

I am already missing these
- How long do I have to wait to see them again?
- I did not appreciate them near enough
- I am making a promise to myself
- next year I will.

Okay missing is over
- I guess the green silkies need to come off
- I am always curious what is around the next corner
- Aren't you?

Out-Takes

I certainly would hate to be our photographer.
I do not know which would be worse
- taking photos of our family
- or a grumpy child.

This is our family tradition
- every Thanksgiving
- its our way of acknowledging what we are most thankful for.

In saying that
- we realize we have the attention span
- of a two year old
- when we get together.

I have never met such a silly family -these are the real photos -the real us.

This year we expanded our focus to include pictures of Nellie
-it being her Senior year and all.
-I will not add any bragging here
-for which she will be so proud of her Mother.

-No need to brag

-her pictures say it all.

I do ponder over who starts all this silliness

-don't be critical children. I think you are beautiful,
-inside and out
-I am getting to a point here,

-oh ya, who creates all this silliness when we sit down to take that perfect portrait??

I will not point any fingers for who is to blame.

But you got to love HIM don't you.
-we like to keep it real
-life is better when it gets a little silly
-at least from my viewpoint

Photos by Todd Ashman
-thanks uncle Todd they are fabulous and we know what you had to put up with.
